Community Closet

Grounded in the principles of mutualism* and interdependence,** the Community Closet is a service available to ALL students and employees at MIAD. Please take any items you need.

The Community Closet supports gender exploration and affirmation, as well as career readiness. All items in the Closet are laundered by student staff in the Equity + Inclusion Center. Excess items/materials are repurposed in the MIAD Textiles Lab or donated to Community Advocates.

Donations to the Community Closet may be brought to the Equity + Inclusion Center (280) at any time.

*Mutualism is an organizational model where voluntary, collaborative exchanges of resources and services for common benefit take place amongst community members to overcome social, economic, and political barriers to meeting common needs.
**Interdependence is a state of mutual dependence or reliance between two or more people or groups. It can also be defined as being interconnected with others, where one’s well-being is influenced by the well-being of others.
